One of the top spots in Milwaukee. NY style with a Milwaukee feel. Young crowd hasn't hit it yet because "it's not water." A few cougars are on the prowl though. It's the perfect combo of casual and classy. Pool table, small outside balcony, sweet bar, and couches in the lobby area. Good music, DJ on hand. Check it out at least.
For the guys: hit or miss on the 20-somethings, groups of girls in their high 20s low 30s, a few cougars, bartenders are nice
For the girls: Guys seem relatively chill here
Drink prices: Reasonable
Music: Good
Service: Superior
Going back?: Fo sho.

Aura @ 1011 N. Astor St. Milwaukee
Club Aura
1011 North Astor St.
Check it out: http://auramilwaukee.com/
I have to admit, I had my reservations about going to a club that has changed names more times than a 3-time divorcee, but I was still inclined to give it a try. There was a fashion show going on and some genius had the idea of making a huge runway that actually made its way around the rectangular bar. It was hard to grab a drink when models--and I use this term loosely--were bumping into you. All in all the show was boring and only Gisele or Bruno could have made it exciting. The club has a nice atmosphere which includes the aforementioned large bar and a small bar in the back along with a small dance area. Inside, it could pass for something you see in Los Angeles...It definitely is one of the best bars I've seen from a decor standpoint--that's my HGTV analysis.
The problem with Aura is that for a Saturday night, it was highly understaffed. The odds were better for getting a lady's number than getting a drink (unless you are this dapper blog host, in which case this is not a problem). Get better!!!
For the guys: Decent mix of nice looking Milwaukee ladies in their mid 20s, dressed to impress
For the ladies: Guys with cash, "tough guys," regular guys, some older fellas
Drink prices: Moderate
Music: Dance mixed with Hot 100
Upcoming event: May 24th...Start of Summer Party with DJ Wizz Kid. $4 shots all night, 3 Olives drink specials.
Going back?: Not in the near future.
